Because every single one of us was in love with her, and every decision started and ended with Bliss.
I’d seemed to have stalled out at 5’2”.
“C’mere, Little Wolf.”
I dropped my nose, unable to stop myself from breathing her in. The way she curled her fingers into my chest told me she could feel my heart slamming into my rib cage. “Good morning.” Goose bumps ran down her neck as my breath grazed her ear.
“Missed you.” I punctuated it with a playful wink.
A low rumble formed in my chest. I was going to kiss her right here. Damn the consequences.
I groaned and pulled her back firmly into my chest, dropping my chin to the crown of her head. My voice dipped dangerously low when his gaze dropped to her chest. “Fuck off.”
Her voice came out firm. Good girl. “You’re blocking my way.”
“Uh, no, just being friendly.” “Don’t be,” Nox said, coming up beside us. “She has friends. Fuck off.”
Bliss tipped her head back, resting it on my chest, not caring that we chased off her potential date. A low purr silently rumbled through me, and she momentarily stiffened before relaxing further into my embrace.
I loosened my grip, letting him pull her against him, but I didn’t let go of her hips.
Nox leaned over the table and ran a finger over her cheek. “Yeah?” “Mmmhmmm.” She purred at his touch.
He tried to reach for her arm. “Aw, don’t be like that.” My hand shot out and grabbed the soccer player’s wrist, twisting hard. “Don’t touch.”
Bliss shifted in her seat, and without thinking, I ran my nose up her neck. A groan caught in the back of my throat. Her floral smell filled my nose, and my hands gripped her waist. I burrowed my face in her neck again, my teeth aching.
“Holy shit,” Rafe said, his eyes growing wide. “We need to get out of here.” Ares and Nox nodded silently at each other. “Why?” she asked at the same time she turned her neck, exposing it fully to me. I opened my mouth, my teeth aching to graze over her soft skin. Sudden clarity hit me, and I scrambled back so fast I nearly hit the ground.
Ares ran his hands through his hair. “Fuck.”
I lifted my hand to his face and ran my thumb over Ares’ sharp cheekbone. “You’re acting weird.”
Ares had always been the most opinionated and dominant of our group. Now though, he looked like he would have happily passed that job to anyone else. He rubbed his palms over his eyes, then slowly met my gaze. “You know what’s happening, Omega.”
“But I can’t. I’m too fucking selfish to let you go.”
“Give her to us,” Nox said, and Rafe handed me over to him. He and Rafe must’ve switched places, because Nox’s and Killian’s scents surrounded me, merging until it became a delicious medley. Killian’s hand ran up and down my legs as Nox ran circles up my back, his mouth peppering barely there kisses on my collarbone. A shiver ran through me, and warmth pooled between my thighs.
His chest vibrated through me. “She needs a nest.”
They could have asked me to commit murder, and I would have happily gone along with it.
I wanted them to claim me. Now.
I watched with alarmed fascination.
I’d loved her since I was six years old. Beta or omega, there was never going to be anyone else.
Fuck. I didn’t want to let her go, and I needed some part of her to know that. I deepened the kiss, owning every part of her—stamping myself in her mind, begging her to remember me.
my mind went blank except for one word. Mine.
Killian’s crisp smell of lemon and vanilla swirled with Nox’s smooth sandalwood, Rafe’s peppers and coffee beans, and Ares’ cloudless night sky. An overwhelming sense of rightness sank into my bones as each of their bonds snapped broken pieces of me back into place.
Killian was the first to fade, his joy slipping away until I almost couldn’t feel him at all. Nox’s calm understanding went next, followed by Rafe’s protection. I gasped and had to choke down a sob as the last bond went dormant, and Ares’ unconditional acceptance of me disappeared with it.
