My mental well-being took precedence, and my freedom to be myself was the new priority. And I am not a professional person at work. I like to do my work but also have fun. I know that means there are some careers I’m not cut out for—DMV worker, Supreme Court justice, commercial pilot, neurosurgeon, nanny—but in most jobs I’ve found it’s entirely possible to find the right balance.
