“Why do you reek of fear and indecision?” Fuck. “Your sense of smell is off.” The tip of his nose touched the spot below my ear. “No. It isn’t. You’re afraid.” I tilted my head away from his. “Stop that.” “Tell me what you fear, and I’ll eat it.”

“You are mine to protect, tiny human. They cannot have you.”

his eerie green eyes, lingering over Archie for several moments. “He’s mine.” The words came out firm and authoritative. Telarion sighed, almost wearily. “Shame. It would have saved me hunting.” Archie’s mouth dropped open, spilling noodles back into his plate,

“I can give you what you need, tiny human. I smell your arousal when I feed on you. I sense the carnal desire rising inside you. I have the tools with which to satisfy you. A fair trade, don’t you think? A symbiosis.” My cheeks burned. “Shut up. I am not having sex with you.” “Aw,” he crooned, “am I too monstrous for your delicate sensibilities? A shame, because I have a package much bigger and satisfying than your incubus friend.”

“Morals mean nothing if keeping them can kill you,” Telarion said softly. “Trust me, I know.”

“No one will touch her,” Telarion said. “No one harms what is mine.” Silence followed his declaration. Archie cleared his throat. “Well, that was almost sweet, until it turned psycho possessive.”

“Telarion ran off pretty quick,” Archie pointed out. “He’s not a people person. Not unless he’s eating them. The urge to snack must have been unbearable.”
