Nicholas laughed, dipping his head. “Was it that bad?” “You don’t remember because you’re a man, and as a rule, men never think the sex is bad. So yes. Yes, it was. It was an absolute mess.” He grimaced, squeezing his eyes shut for a moment. “It was bad, wasn’t it? How long was it? Like two minutes?” “Try thirty seconds.” “There’s no way it was that short.” “Time is like a penis, Nicholas. It’s never as long as you think it is.”
“Good morning, Quinn! What can I get you?” I leaned on the counter and grinned. “A shot of vodka and an ounce of cocaine.” She didn’t bat an eyelid as she said, “Sorry, honey, we can’t serve vodka until five p.m. and we’re fresh out of cocaine. Can I interest you in an espresso and a croissant?” “If that’s all you’ve got, I suppose it’ll have to do.” I sighed.
“Never say the phrase ‘festive fun’ again. It’s traumatizing, Nicholas.”
