Sagan is not so much making errors as using popular myths and scientific misconceptions to prove his points. His philosophy is not just atheistic, it is anti-faith and anti-God. Talking about the Pythagoreans he reveals too much of his bias when he says “like all orthodox religions, they practiced a rigidity that prevented them from correcting their errors.”(19)
