“You’re bloody right, here we go! Kieran, shut your ears, mate!” He gives me a thumbs-up and turns on the radio.
“I’m done,” I say, grinning. “When do you want to start working on getting you knocked up? Because I was thinking right now would be bloody grand.” A flush of color spreads over her cheeks. She mutters, “I regret every decision in my life that has led me to this moment.” I grab her and plant a hearty kiss on her mouth. When I pull away, she sighs. “Ugh. You’re going to be really unbearable now.”
“Will you stop talking before I throw myself out the window, please?” He rolls over, drags me on top of him, and hides his face in my neck as he laughs.
“Now ask me what the only thing was that saved me from dying of anaphylactic shock.” My heart pounds painfully hard. I whisper, “Epinephrine.” Holding my gaze, he nods. I shut my eyes and bury my face in my hands. Then his arms are around me, pulling me close. Into my ear, he says, “We should name the first baby Epi.” My laugh is part sob. “That’s sick.” He pretends to be serious. “You’re right. How about Nephrine? Epine? Rin?” “Oh God. We’re both going to hell.” “For sure. We’ll have front row seats.” His voice warms. “But we’ll be together.”
All four of them have their arms crossed over their chests and expressions of murderous rage on their faces as they stare at each other over everyone’s heads. Sloane laughs. “Oh, look. The boys are here!”
Into her ear, I murmur, “Who do you belong to?” She answers without hesitation. “You.” “Aye. Now and forever.”
