The SeaDevil was filled with water. She was in a suit, and the only thing protecting her from the horrible death by drowning was the thin helmet that she had over her head. The thought of the door of the SeaDevil opening and letting her out brought comfort to her, but only for a split second until her brain realized that there was simply more water out there; more imminent death.
