I want to protect his heart, even if it’s at the detriment of my own.
He kisses me like I’m breakable. It’s slow, sweet, consuming. I hate it. It’s the worst thing he’s ever unknowingly done.
He laughs so hard he can’t breathe, and the sound is like coming home.
His jaw is tense, hazel eyes darker than usual, and it occurs to me I’ve never seen him like this before. I’ve been missing out.
Dex pulls on his navy suit jacket. It’s my favorite suit of his because it makes his dark eyes brighter, and he deserves to be the brightest thing in a room.
“Dex has sex with Tripp who flips.”
“Tell me what to do to make this good for you,” he says. My beautiful Dex. “It’s already the best sex of my life.”
“I’m dumb a lot of the time, but the best dumb decision I ever made was marrying you. Because now I know why I could spend forever with you, and only you.
“They’re my hockey family. No, they’re our hockey family. You’re one of us now too.” His smile is blinding. “Yeah, I am.”
