“Perhaps, but don’t close the door on love just because you gave it to the wrong person.”

“You gave me nothing! You stripped me of any hopes and dreams I ever had for myself. You taught me that a woman’s role is to help a man live the life he wants. Then you left me in the clutches of a man exactly the same as you.”

“I did choose, but if you had given me any kind of support, I could have chosen to leave him a long time ago. If you had empowered me instead of belittling me, I might have found my strength sooner. But now I have it, and no man will ever take it away from me again. Rose and I are staying here, and you and Mum are going to give us an alibi for last night. Then you’ll stay the fuck out of my way, or I’ll dedicate my life to bringing you down to the level you put me and Mum on. I’ll take your money, your reputation, and your family. You’ll spend your final years alone inside a house half the size of this one, without a friend in the world. If you don’t believe me, then roll the dice. I’m young.
