A goal is a wish, but a standard holds you accountable.
Here’s a secret: you will always succeed if the contract is with yourself. It’s actionable. It’s within your control. You can hold yourself accountable. When you create a plan, pencil in that things may not go smoothly. Then, when you hit obstacles, acknowledge that those, too, were part of the plan. Then you can’t claim you’ve failed. The commitment doesn’t fall apart just because something is difficult or goes off course. Your standards change as you do.
In these moments when you are forced into uncomfortable new areas, realize that all the skills you now have were once new.
Once you put yourself on the sale rack, it’s hard to go back to full price.
“When you are yourself, your people are better able to find you.”
When you show yourself as you are, people recognize you. Your people flock to you.
You are what you think you are, so you have to be mindful of what you think.
