The counter-cultural revolution of the 1960s, the loss of the Vietnam War by the United States, the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, and the two-term election of a black President have unequivocally caused the cultural changes of the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, so formidable for fundamentalists in those days, to pale by comparison.
