human beings and social institutions don’t necessarily change and adapt as quickly as the machines and science do. Or maybe it is more accurate to say that we do in fact try to change, and change we do. But as a culture and society, we often do so with our eyes so fixed on the thrill and progress gained, that we tend to let slide the costs of some of the consequences.
