“I like you, Luana Torres. If you weren’t Dakas’s soulmate, I might have courted you myself.”

“Are you sure? Maybe I’ll grow a liking to wearing human pants,” I said teasingly.

I used every single curse word I had ever heard in my life and likely invented a few more in the process.

I froze. “Did you just coo?” Dakas stiffened, his wings shifted a bit, then he shrugged. “Maybe?” he said, sounding a little defensive.

“But for now, stop trying to tempt me, you seductress. I have distressed villagers to protect and evil to thwart before I can drag you to my lair and have my way with you!” Dakas said teasingly.

I laughed. “Apologies, oh valiant hero. Go forth and thwart to your heart’s content.”

I was most definitely developing a crush on my husband, wings, feathery tail, scaly feet, and all.

“Whoever tortured you with their poor table manners must have done quite a number on you,”

Last night would qualify as my best first date ever. He’s funny, sweet, super respectful, and he really seems determined to make me happy.”

“I will. Now go kick those motherfuckers’ asses. Make them rue the day they ever fucked with us.”
