A smile played on his lips as he carefully imitated me. I knew he was laughing at my outrage over how he had manhandled the fork. But it featured very high on my short lists of pet peeves, which included people chewing with their mouths open or being loud eaters. The worst were those who felt the need to create their own soundtrack by moaning, nom-noming, or smacking their lips while they ate. Just thinking about it made me twitch.
