His skin was obsidian —or at least that was what it looked like against the lighter shade of night behind him— his eyes a blood red and his - horns? No, his antlers. Large antlers, not like a ram or those cartoon demons but like - like a massive elk.
“I’ll protect you from the bad things.” His eyes were as vibrant as flames in the dark. “Just understand that you are mine.”
I know very well that all you really need right now is for me to go down there and feast on that pretty little cunt of yours. Then you’ll see that I am much better suited to your pleasure than your pain.”
I am going to wear you down to nothing. I will earn your tears and demand your cries. I will open you up and take everything from you, so you better use that mouth of yours.” He pulled her lower lip down. “Before I do.”
Acheron had never heard of a demon who had fallen —and so gently too—for a mortal. It felt impossible. Worse than that, it felt dangerous.
Xaphan ate lies for breakfast. And for lunch? The tongues that passed them.
“I’m what the nightmares run from. Because with or without you, I’m real. I’m eternal.”
“If we were meant to settle, we would be born with instructions.”
War. How could a word so small encompass an influence so vast. It was not simply a syllable. It was a hungry void, a gluttonous abyss, waiting to devour all who would participate, even those so willing to feed it in the first place.
It would take all of Heaven to keep him from her, and even then, well… He would love to see them try.
He tightened his hold on her. “You never have to thank me. I will burn this entire world and the next to the ground before I let anyone hurt you again.”
He smirked over at her. “So you like fucking the monster then, do you?” “Very much so. In fact, I imagine it’s the only reason I like fucking you at all.”
