Luo Binghe’s two eyes were as bright as morning stars—a tender shoot of a handsome young man.
As soon as Shen Qingqiu opened his eyes, he found Luo Binghe staring at him. He saw a glimpse of the future Luo Binghe’s unique grace, that of “eyes like cold stars, a soft and radiant smile, with muted words and quiet laughter.”
Shen Qingqiu didn’t even want to pretend to meditate, so he lay on the bed, just pretending to be dead.
“If this disciple could give up his life for Shizun, it would be an honor.”
“Then this master will promise you in kind,” he said after thinking for a moment and settling on properly ambiguous words. “Even if an accident befalls this master, no misfortune will come to you.”
Shen Qingqiu glared at him. “Since you know it was for your sake, then put some effort into protecting your life.”
Shen Qingqiu’s heart thumped. Luo Binghe’s eyes, dark like obsidian, flashed with a light more dazzling than the reflection of the moon and stars.
“Why does Shizun keep looking at me?” he asked. “Could it be that this disciple was gone for so long that Shizun also missed him?”
“I’m not allowed to look at someone I raised?” asked Shen Qingqiu. Luo Binghe chortled. “Of course Shizun is allowed. Am I pleasing to look at?”
This really isn’t the time! Why must you be so filial at this critical juncture?! I can’t tell you that the only way to completely cure the poison is to take a trip to pound town with you, okay?!
“Dying for Shizun or dying together with Shizun, either one is something this disciple would gladly do,” said Luo Binghe.
Without enduring the bone-chilling cold / How could fragrant plum blossoms hope to bloom
Even as Xiu Ya stabbed into his chest, he clung to a last strand of hope. Shen Qingqiu hadn’t meant to stab him.
