She was usually either stuffed up, dripping, or blowing from April to October,

as though history was even better when you had someone to share it with.

There was something so heavy about the burden of history,

“What’s wrong with nice?” “Nothing. Except it usually involves not telling the truth,”

“Don’t be sorry, it’s your opinion. There’s no right and wrong in music, you know? Just everything in between.”

Everyone wanted me to be their mother in group.”

“Meaning that if someone is really close with you, your getting upset or them getting upset is okay, and they don’t change because of it. It’s just part of the relationship. It happens. You deal with it.”

“Mallory,” Owen said, rubbing a hand over his face. “Please stop shrieking.”

For me, it was harder to define. We weren’t together by any means, but we weren’t strangers.
