“Sleep, my Queen,” I murmured, and a small frown marred her brow. “You don’t call me that.” She scowled. “I’m your beauty.” A silent chuckle rumbled in my throat. “Very well then—sleep, my beautiful Queen.”
Axton nodded as if he expected that. “You’ll need to be replenished soon by us. The crystal likely drained all of your energy reserves.” I quirked a smile at his words and teased him, “It always comes down to you filling me with your cum, doesn’t it?”
“After you feel better—” Sylan started to say, but I talked over him jokingly. “You mean after we fu—” But before I could finish, he pressed a finger to my lips, cutting me off. “Yes, after that,
“Because I can’t lose you!” The sheer desperation in his eyes and voice spoke volumes of the pain he felt at the thought. “That’s not a good enough reason,” I parried softly. I was touched by his words, but this was a matter of life and death—of right and wrong.
“Sera, I can’t lose you because…I love you. You aren’t just the Queen. You are our everything, gem.”
“Yes. I love you.” Sera continued to stare with an almost blank look in her eyes, and I shifted uncomfortably. “Are you sure?” she prompted, and I couldn’t help myself—I tipped my head back and laughed. It was so Sera to question everything.
“Obviously not—my heart never came alive until I laid eyes on you. I know because it felt like that organ was dead inside of my chest, the same as our land was. But just as you’re doing with our lands, you breathed life into me. You make me feel alive, Sera. You give me a reason to want to live.”
Oddly, Sera looked smug at my words. “What’s that look mean?” I demanded, stepping into her space. “And if I don’t tell you?” she teased.
“Then I will fuck you slowly and gently.” If she knew me at all, she would know slow and gentle were not things I was capable of. She gasped in mock horror, eliciting more laughter from me and the two others. “You wouldn’t dare!” she scoffed in challenge. “Try me,” I purred, grateful for the change in topic, but of course, Sera was tenacious and steered our talk back to more murky waters. “Well, that’s what people in love do, I’ve heard—they enjoy one another, gently and slowly.”
“I’m never telling you that I love you again!” “I’m sorry!” she wheezed, still chortling. “I swear I’m not making fun of your words. It’s just that…I never expected you to be the first to say it. Sylan, yes. Axton, maybe. You? Never.”
“I know that you care for me, Rowen. I feel it. I just never expected you to admit it so soon. It surprised me, that’s all, and it actually does make me feel better.” “Better? Why’s that?” I wondered, confused. I wasn’t sure how it could make her feel better after she had just stared at me like her brain malfunctioned.
“Because now I don’t feel so silly for admitting that I’m falling in love with all of you.” Her words sent a thrill through my body. Even though she hadn’t said the exact words back, Sera still said that she had similar feelings. With time, she would love me as I loved her—could I ask for anything more?
I hoped they knew that I understood how astronomically special I was to them and that I didn’t take it for granted. I knew that my plan to try to unite our kinds was a gamble that came with a high risk of myself or one of them being injured. But our four lives were not more important than the rest of the damn world.
Heroes to me aren’t special people who have superpowers. Heroes are the people who just choose to do the right thing, not expecting a reward in return. They make their choices because they wouldn’t be able to sleep at night knowing that there was something they could’ve done to help and hadn’t acted upon it.
Axton pursed his lips. “If we’re going to The Above, then we’re going to need our full strength, precious.” Sylan and Rowen both stared at him, their mouths hanging open as if they couldn’t believe the words that had just come out of his mouth. Even I could barely believe it. I thought Axton would have been the one that was the hardest to convince.
It was an interesting thought, that our sex life would singlehandedly be fueling these lands. Who was I to complain, though? It truly was a win for me all around.
I had gone from never experiencing pleasure before, to these monsters bringing my body to life and showing me all I had been missing out on. And now those moments were actually doing good for the world? It was almost too good to be true.
“I’m falling in love with you too,” he admitted before sinking his tongue into my mouth and kissing me deeply. I grinned against his mouth as he truly made love to me. He whispered sweet things to me the entire time, telling me how stunning I was, inside and out, and that they’d never understand how they got so lucky to be fated to me.
“You know I’m falling in love with you too, right?” he asked, his voice uncharacteristically raw, like he was worried I didn’t know. “I know,” I answered just before he pushed his hips up once more, making me cry out. These monsters were mine, and I was theirs. Completely.
“We go to The Above, talk to the leader, and try to negotiate a new treaty.” I could feel their disapproval in the air as Sylan and Rowen came to join us on the bed. “What?! It’s a good plan! Men always want to shoot first and ask questions later, but I think everyone underestimates the power of asking.”
“Precious, what do you think the leaders are going to do when they see Rumilus back on their land?” “Pause,” I responded. “Pause?” Rowen repeated. “Please explain.” “Well, the last time the leaders saw you, the Rumilus were turning into Specters, right? Humans knew something was wrong with your kind and took advantage of your weakness. When we go to The Above, I think your presence will make them stop and think—and that pause is exactly what we need to plead our case and make the leader see reason.”
“Do you want me to carry you?” Rowen teased, knowing how much she’d enjoyed being carried by Sylan the first time. Sera rolled her eyes in her typical faux-independent way before hedging, “I wouldn’t mind if it means we get there faster.” Silently, Sylan swept in and scooped her up before Rowen could. “This is my job.” Rowen scowled. “You know you have to share her, right?”
“Everything you know is a lie!” I blurted out. Smooth. Real smooth, Sera. Behind me, my Trifecta walked up, and Rowen snorted. “You might need to give them a bit more information, Sera.” If possible, the girls’ eyes grew even wider at the sight of my monsters.
The rebel leader had no idea how many targets he’d just painted on his back, but knowing my mate, she would be upset if we did anything to him. I wondered if maiming him was still an acceptable option, given the circumstances.
“Don’t talk to me,” she hissed primly just as the doors opened onto a lavish office space. The rebel leader gave a low whistle as we all exited the elevator. “Must be nice being rich and in control.” “Actually, don’t speak at all,” the representative snarked, amending her previous statement.
“As for those who support the now dead leader and his ideals…” I trailed off and let a menacing, cold-blooded smile curl my lips as I gestured for my monsters. I kept my head staring straight into the camera, never looking away as they came and kneeled behind me to be in the frame. “Now is your chance to run and never come back. If we catch you, well, let’s just say those public torture sessions that were held here? That’s child’s play.”
“Let’s leave the underground so we can go back home…which is underground?” I teased, and all three guys groaned at my lame attempt at humor. “You can do better,” Rowen teased, and I made a face.
“SERA!” I roared in warning when my mate took off in a dead sprint. Although irrational, I was seriously entertaining the idea of getting her a leash.
Of course, the woman paid me no heed—a staple of our future together, no doubt. I, and the rest of my Trifecta, would tell her one thing while she merrily did the opposite. It was equal parts frustrating and sexy.
“Mom, Dad, I want to introduce you to my monst—mates.” I raised a hand to cover the smirk stretching my lips. “This is Axton,” Sera continued. My gold-eyed brethren stepped forward, bowing his head in respect to the human couple. “And this is Sylan.” He copied Axton, moving aside so Sera could introduce me. “And this is Rowen—he’s the troublemaker of my Trifecta.” I snorted at her words in mock offense. “Nice to meet you,” I said, offering my hand to her mom and dad in what I knew was a human greeting.
“So, you’re the troublemaker?” he queried, seemingly unfazed that his daughter was mated to three monstrous men. “You two have a lot in common.” This was going better than I could have ever imagined. Axton chuckled while Sera glared at her dad.
“How is that okay?” her dad snapped. “How are you surviving if it’s toxic?” I smirked evilly at her, waiting for her response. Oh, how awkward this would get if they knew we filled their daughter with our cum consistently. “Er, the crystal helps me,” she hedged, shifting uncomfortably. “Is that all?” I prompted wickedly, earning a jab from her elbow. “Yes, that’s all!” she hissed. Me and the other two chuckled at her unease, but I dropped it.
She threw her arms around Sera’s neck once more and kissed her cheek before whispering in her ear, “And you promise your…mates are treating you well?” I’m assuming she thought we wouldn’t be able to hear her, but heightened hearing had its perks. I’d wager that all the orgasms that we had given Sera suddenly popped into her brain as I saw her cheeks tint with a faint pink blush, making me smirk in victory.
Taking his hand, I placed it against my stomach. “You are all going to be dads.” The color drained from his face so fast I worried he was going to be sick, but he quickly recovered, scooping me up and whooping before Sylan directed him to put me down.
slow smile stretched his lips. “We’re going to have a son…” Again, my crystal pulsed, and I clutched my stomach as laughter overtook me. “No, you’re not—” “You said you were certain you were preg—” I cut him off. “It’s a girl.” All three men froze, torn between horror and awe, and I felt a moment of panic for our unborn baby girl. The first of her kind. Three possessive monsters for dads… Our poor daughter was never going to be able to date.
Where the monsters most people were afraid of helped me hunt down the true bad guys—the humans. Because I can assure you, my monsters were angels in comparison to the true evil that lurked in my reality. Humans just happened to wear skin suits that were more pleasing to the eye.
Each of my three monsters had a different color that emanated from the piece of them I liked to think of as their soul, spreading into their necks and up into their faces like veins beneath the surface. Lucien was red. Elwin was green. Kylo was blue.
They’d smile to your face to placate you, whispering the words you wanted to hear, all while taking what they wanted before leaving behind a husk of a person. The ones who stole. The ones who raped. The ones who thought they deserved everything simply because they breathed.
In my fantasy world, my monsters and I snuffed the arrogance and entitlement out of every single one of those fuckers. Sometimes discretion was needed, so, in addition to their monster forms, they had a human form so they could blend in with society and be at my side.
Dean of Students who had lifted my skirt this afternoon and told me he’d forget the claims of me cheating on my essay if I helped him. I hadn’t cheated. There was no need to when academics were a natural gift of my mind.
Lucien. He’d slaughter for those he loved without blinking. Touch what was his and die a painful death as a result. It was that simple to him.
Just as the perv put his hand on my exposed leg and drew it up toward my skirt, as he had in reality, Lucien tutted at him. “That simply won’t do. The only person allowed to touch my angel is me.”
Maybe that act should have scared me—it was what I truly wanted, and craving that type of violence wasn’t normal. But instead, it unfurled a sense of justice and satisfaction within me, perhaps even a hint of desire towards Lucien for the vicious move. Alright, it was more than a hint of desire.
