It is entirely possible that behind the perception of our senses, worlds are hidden of which we are unaware. —Albert Einstein
Discovery commences with the awareness of anomaly… with the recognition that nature has somehow violated the paradigm-induced expectations that govern normal science. It then continues with a more or less extended exploration of the area of anomaly. And it closes only when the paradigm theory has been adjusted so that the anomalous has become the expected. —Thomas Kuhn
Miracles do not happen in contradiction to nature, but only in contradiction to that which is known to us of nature. —St. Augustine
Whether or not these six roughly chronological phases collectively constitute an obscure agenda by a single phenomenon, their cumulative unfolding has had profound effects on western human society since 1947. One question that arises from these six phases: Is someone trying to tell us something? Does consciousness have something to do with it?
Davis and J. Vallee (2003). “Incommensurability, Orthodoxy and the Physics of High Strangeness: a 6-layer Model for Anomalous Phenomena.” Presented at the Forum for Science, Religion and Consciousness at the University Fernando Pessoa, Porto (Portugal).
