Suffering doesn’t mean you’re cursed; suffering means you’re human. The question isn’t “Why is there suffering in my life?” but “Why wouldn’t there be suffering?” Because such is life in a broken world. The question is “What way will you bear your suffering?”
Expectations can slay any relationship, especially with God.
It’s never about the storm—it’s always about your sail.
It can look like we are lost on the way—but if we are with Someone who loves us, we are never lost.
Lament can be tears that water new life, if you let it come.
What we’re all looking for is a way to look into the eyes of One who is always looking for us, and there is only One.* And the dark night over us spins with embers of light, like the eyes of God dance when He looks into ours, takes us in arms, and we sway, swept into the oneness of the Great God Dance.
Where we forget ourselves—we find exactly what we are looking for: joy.
Life is waves. Grief comes in waves. Suffering comes in waves. Losses come in waves. There is no controlling life’s storms; there is only learning to live with waves. The real work of being human is mastering how to process losses while being in the process of moving forward. The real work of being human is trusting the way is the waves, right through the valleys and crests. Across the waves, even now, right now, the Spirit hovers.
