that living the Christian life does not mean we must become dead-eyed zealots whose sole purpose is to avoid committing sins, and who in this abnegating endeavor limit our activities to the merely religious, making our own pinched personal piety the goal of our self-obsessed existence. Quite the contrary. To live our lives for others and in obedience to God is not at all what we had feared. Indeed, it is real freedom and true humanity.
we are saved, not by anything we do, but by grace. Yet if we have truly understood and believed the gospel, it will change what we do and how we live.
