As the towers rose into the clouds, their size demanded that attention be paid. Positioned on a diagonal from each other, the buildings stood 131 feet apart, about the distance of a third baseman’s throw to first. Each exterior wall spanned 208 feet. The North Tower rose 1,368 feet, an imperceptible six feet taller than its twin, and its flat roof sprouted a 360-foot television and radio antenna.
