Hashing things out that night, they identified three problems. First, all of the rental cars in town were taken. Second, even if they found a rental car in Canada, they were told they wouldn’t be allowed to take it on a one-way trip into the United States, which meant they would have to drive to the border, return their Canadian rental car on the Canadian side of the line, somehow cross into the United States, and then rent another car for the trip to Texas.
