Ruth thinks of the similarity between the Satanic fiddler who played until the wedding guests were turned to stone and the Nix with his violin, luring sailors into the sea. All these stories have the same moral: don’t be lured by beautiful music or beautiful women or even a beautiful horse; keep your feet securely on the path; don’t be lured by words from beyond the grave.
