The most problematic greenhouse gasses related to animal farming are carbon dioxide, which is produced through practices such as deforestation, the destruction of natural habitats and the damaging of soil, methane, which is produced by the digestive system of ruminant animals through the process of enteric fermentation, and nitrous oxide, which comes largely from manure and fertiliser use.
