Another major way in which we devalue the intelligence of farmed animals, and thereby psychologically justify our treatment of them, is by viewing them as all being the same. One of the reasons for this is that we have bred them to be genetically similar, which further plays into the idea that they are just a collective mass that lack any significant or meaningful individuality.
