Our journey progressed very slowly, because Danny wanted to stop and look at everything. Absolutely everything. If I didn’t love him so much, I would have already told him—several times—that not every plant or rock or bug warranted a thorough inspection and ten questions. Is it poisonous? What are those spikes for? Will it bite me? Why does it look like a dick? I hadn’t thought it was possible for a being my age to learn new skills, but Danny was certainly teaching me how to be more patient.
It made me forever grateful that he wanted to be with me, because the thought of him falling prey to anyone who would take advantage of his gentle nature made me want to murder things. All the things.
Crossing between worlds has made me tired. Well, that and the monster orgasm you just gave me.” I felt his elbow nudge my belly. “Get it? Monster orgasm.” “You’ve made that joke before. Several times.” “I know, and it’s still funny.” I rolled my eyes and gave him a little shove. “Go and sort yourself out. You’re a mess,”
“Yeah. Our good deed for the day is done.” Danny kept his arm around my waist as we started walking, glancing back at the nask. “Don’t get eaten, little guy.” “We’re supposed to do a good deed every day?” I muttered.
I would never admit it out loud, because he would gloat, but this was more than nice. This was… wonderful. There had never been—and never would be—another being in the universe who I could be this relaxed and content around. Not even Edin, who I trusted with my life. Danny made me feel peaceful.
“I feel bad. We’re getting spunk in the pool.” Danny’s voice was worried and sheepish. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. Who gave a fuck? “Don’t feel bad. Just consider it an offering to the gods.”
“We just fucked in a religious place? You had your tongue up my ass on sacred ground?” I huffed and pulled him closer to drop a kiss in his hair. “My sweet, it was a joke.” I would just have to make sure he didn’t see the shrine when we left.
I felt no different, but at the same time, I did. Perhaps I was just being a sentimental fool, but it suddenly felt like my life, my existence, had more meaning. More purpose. It was for him.
“My sweet.” I cupped Danny’s face, trying to keep my voice as patient as possible. “I wanted this more than anything in the universe. To be with you always.” I leaned in and kissed him. “You haven’t taken anything from me. You’ve given me a gift.”
“We will be tiny, wrinkly bags of bones together when we are old.”
“Poor Edin. And he lost some of his horn, didn’t he? His horns were cool.” I scowled but said nothing. Mine were better. And my left one had grown back after I lost it.
I also wondered if I should let Danny know that complimenting Edin’s horns was basically the equivalent of stating his admiration for Edin’s cock. I decided against it.
“If I see anyone looking at him,” I began through gritted teeth, “or hear anyone referring to him as it, or a pet, or a whore, I will tear them open and decorate this pathetic little establishment with their innards. And I will do it slowly.”
“I’m sure I could make Edin’s human piss his pants if I wanted to,” I muttered,
“I’m so glad I met you. And that I get to spend the next few thousand years with you,” he added, grinning up at me.
Danny grinned again and kissed my chin. “I never really believed in fate, or soul mates, but… I think you’re mine.” “I am yours,”
