as I was merrily going along, swinging at the errant branch, there came striding—striding, Emma—a rather male…man, you know the type. Large shoulders and a strong jaw, and a tweed cap worn in a jaunty manner. The idea! He was only lacking the gun and the hounds.

I’ve decided positivity is the Everest of virtues. You have to not only confront the dismal realities of life but choose, ofttimes, to blatantly ignore them.

“Faith in the abstract is more comfortable,” I said. I heard an amused sound, then, “It is. But I begin to suspect that faith made concrete is more comforting.”
