What She Left Behind

“As a doctor,” he said, taking a pen out of his lab coat pocket, “it’s my responsibility to think of the public as a whole. If society is to prosper, we need to encourage those with good germ plasma to breed and to discourage those with bad germ plasma from having offspring. Sterilization is a common procedure in state asylums. It’s our responsibility to keep the unfit from passing along the insanity gene.”
