A child thinks it is the center of all. But as they age, they realize others exist, and their needs and whims do not rule the house, let alone the village, let alone the world. The older they get, the more they see this truth borne out in the suffering inherent in this Second Life. Time becomes something they fear, and that fear forges chains in their mind that they cannot break.
