The twin callings on my life are storytelling and hospitality. In our family, sometimes we call them chatting and snacks. I gather people, create safe and restorative spaces for them, and tell the truth about who God is and what he does in our daily blood-and-guts, streets-and-sidewalks lives. Those are the things I’m made to do. Writing and gathering people bring me back to life, even when I’m sure they won’t, even when I desperately don’t want to do either.
