As the sole source for verified Q messages since January 2018, 8chan had become the center of the QAnon universe. But it went down for months starting in August 2019, after a gunman in Texas posted his racist manifesto on the board before murdering twenty-three people in an El Paso Walmart. That shooting followed two other white supremacist massacres, at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, and a synagogue in Poway, California, which were also announced beforehand by their perpetrators on 8chan.
