This freewheeling approach didn’t win him much business, but he found a champion in the French fashion designer Pierre Cardin, who bought an unfinished bubble house in 1992 and contracted with Lovag to expand it. The result is a vast, stunning complex of spheres cascading off the Esterel Massif on the southern coast of France. It’s called Le Palais Bulles—the Bubble Palace.
