“You can say there are only a finite number of magic tricks in the world,” said Evans. “Appearance, disappearance, levitation, teleportation, transformation, penetration [where one solid object disappears into another], restoration [where a broken object is put back together as if new], prediction, and escape,” he said, counting them out on his fingers. All in all, he listed nine basic types of tricks that he said make up the entire repertoire of all the world’s stage magicians.
