Magda Sayeg, the artist responsible for those parking meters, and the founder of a movement variously known as graffiti knitting, yarn bombing, or guerrilla knitting, says in her 2015 TED talk, “All I wanted was to see something warm and fuzzy and humanlike on the cold, steel, gray façade I looked at every day.”
