“I forgot how stubborn you are.” “No, you didn’t.” I chuckled. “You just forgot that you liked it.”
She was the first to say congratulations. And it struck me right then, with her arms around me, that there was more here to be excited about than to fear.
“Don’t hate me,” I whispered, my eyes locking with his. “I won’t survive it.”
“Find what?” She turned fully, her head cocking to the side. “Whatever it was that you were looking for in New York.”
“Why hasn’t he asked us to stay?” I whispered, sliding a hand across my belly.
