These Italian motherfuckers, always kidnapping me.
Everyone’s head swiveled back and forth, watching us. Mariella appeared horrified, but Enzo seemed amused. Mostly. “Did you speak to Ravazzani this way? Not holding your opinions back?” “I have a brain and I prefer to use it. Anyone who doesn’t like it can fuck off.”
“I am glad to see being kidnapped has not crushed your spirit.” “Maybe you Italians just suck at kidnapping.” He dragged the back of a knuckle across my cheek. “Dio, I have missed you.”
“If you don’t let me go, I will do everything I can to make your life a living hell.” He closed the distance between us and wrapped a large hand around my arm. “No need because I am already there. I have been since the moment I ordered you to leave.”
In a flash he had a metal bracelet locked around my wrist, and he clapped the other around his own. Great. Handcuffed to Fausto. Again.
“This could bring down everything we’ve built. Is she worth it, Rav? Is she worth losing the entire empire over?” “She is worth ten empires—and don’t fucking ask me again.”
“Do you need me to tell you how I feel? Is that what you need to forgive me and believe I am worthy of your trust? Because ti amo, cuore mio.”
“Maybe it’s your turn to beg,” I whispered. “Please,” he said instantly, his free hand falling against the glass barrier as if trying to reach for me. “Ti prego, dolcezza. I am so hungry for you.”
Giulio wrapped his arms around my shoulders and leaned onto my back, almost like he was snuggling against me. Fausto’s mouth tightened. “Let her go before you hurt her.” “I would never hurt Frankie,” Giulio said into my hair. “She’s the best stepmother I could have asked for.” I closed my eyes briefly. Jesus. Baked Giulio was a blabbermouth.
Holding her jaw in both hands, I broke off and pressed my forehead to hers. “You alone have the power to destroy me. I am nothing without you, absolutely nothing. And I will never, ever let you go.” Her hands wrapped around my wrists. “Good, because you’ve ruined me, il Diavolo. Absolutely ruined me, so there’s no getting rid of me now. Which means you and I are going to rule the motherfucking world together.”
“I love you, but if you break my heart again, I will carve yours out of your chest and feed it to your pigs.” The look on his face told me he liked my words. “There is my bloodthirsty queen.”
“Oh, bella,” Giulio chuckled under his breath before he sipped his espresso. “You have it so bad.” Not quite done torturing Giulio, I focused on Fausto, who was putting his cup and saucer into the porcelain sink. “I was just telling your son about all the amazing sex we had last night.”
“Listen, boomer, this is not about toughening up. This is about your son being miserable enough to do something drastic.”
“I know Frankie is having a boy. You’ll have another son. And maybe he won’t be such a disappointment.” My voice grew stronger. “You have never disappointed me, figlio mio, not a single day in your life.
It mostly included eggplants and water droplets, but I knew what she meant. I sent her back a heart. Paparino! You sent me an emoji! I feel so proud I rolled my eyes, though my smile widened. My piccola monella, always pushing and teasing me.
“Best decision of my life was knocking you up, dolcezza.” I eased back to stare at him. Something about the way he said it . . . “Did you get me pregnant on purpose?” The edge of his sexy mouth lifted. “I’ll never tell.” “I swear to God, Fausto. If I find out you were using me to breed more Ravazzani babies—” “You’ll what?” His brow arched. “Come right here on the spot? You know the idea of it gets you hot.” Fuck, he was right. “You’re annoying.”
“My piccola monella, don’t you know that everything I do is for you? I will cheat and steal and kill for you. I will burn down the entire world to keep you safe.”
