“We’ve talked about this,” said Jamie mildly. “Murder can’t be your first choice every time you don’t like something.”
I swear, it was like the instant I turned thirty, my body said, That’s it, I’m done putting up with your nonsense. Look after me properly or I’m going to break down like an old engine. I’ve been taking the threat very seriously.”
“You know my views,” said Primrose primly. “As a child, I instructed your nannies and tutors very specifically not to tell you what to drink, what to eat, and what to wear. That is because I believe what you put in your body is your business, and that,” she added, raising her teacup to her lips, “includes penises.”
“A spell went wrong, for which we can thank the prejudices of an uncaring, patriarchal society that went out of its way to punish anybody it deemed too wilful, too powerful, or too different.”
Hmmmmm….. seems a little similar to the unkindness shown towards people who are different today. Am I right?
A lot of nice people stop being nice when they don’t get exactly what they want.”
