“You’ve got fire in you, yeah.” I smile down at her as she studies me skeptically. “You just need to let it burn a little more often.”
“As far as I’m concerned, that’s a good thing. The more people in your circle, the more drama that’s in it. It’s about quality, not quantity.
“There isn’t one time when I’ve seen you and haven’t wanted to get you alone, strip you down, and get to know your body on a personal, intimate level. It’s not that I’ve never not wanted to sleep with you, Skylar, I just had my own set of rules to follow through on. But make no mistake. You’re the kind of girl any guy would be fucking lucky to have in any way you’d let them. And what I’m about to say is going to be awkward and you’re probably going to tell me to shut up, but this needs to be said.”
Because real friends don’t need to try so hard to gain acceptance. It isn’t about impressing them. It’s about letting them see who you are to begin with.
