I shrank back in my seat, feeling a sadness and regret for all those gay folks who paved the way for my generation. For how hard life must have been for them. It wasn’t easy for us now, and for some it would never be. But at least we were no longer illegal. It made my heart hurt.

“Your smile is a little frightening. Could you turn the wattage down a bit? I have sensitive retinas.”

I held my fist up. “Gay Avengers unite.” Denise cleared her throat. “Uh, excuse me. What am I? I’m totally a gay Avenger. I might look more like Thor, but can I please be Black Widow? She’s smoking hot.”
