and best of all, she didn’t have to share her life with any man. This meant there was no one asking her what was for dinner that night, or wanting to know where she was going every time she left the house, or moaning that she was spending too much money on whisky, a small glass of which she’d have at about 6:00 p.m. each evening.
The point being, when you know how to decode the clue, it makes perfect sense. But until that point, the clue appears nonsensical.
Better to welcome someone infrequently than pressure them into not coming at all.
To try and relieve her feelings of frustration, Judith did what she always did. She counted her blessings. There were so many.
If she’d learned one lesson in life, it was that you should never let people get too close. Things always worked out better if you did everything on your own.
