“I’ll drown if I jump in there.” Never.
The stars were screaming inside my skull, mocking, taunting, laughing, cursing me – I wasn’t even sure what, but I knew they were watching, judging, changing fate. This was so fucked up. The worst thing I'd ever done at my father's command, and I hated to think what more he might demand from me now.
He'd finally succeeded in moulding his son into his own image, and fuck, it was terrifying to see the result of that staring back at me.
“Gabriel,” I gasped, gripping his shoulder hard. “What’s going on?” “You need to go,” he said, panic flashing in his eyes. “Go where?” I asked in confusion. “To Darius. Now, Lance,” he said frantically. “He’s about to go home to kill his father. The Guardian bond will draw you to him the moment the fight begins. And you’ll die in the crossfire before Darius is brought to his knees at Lionel’s feet.”
I really was becoming him. My nightmare. My demon. My monster.
