Eh. What’s life, if not odd moments of peace between staring death in the face and giving it a big, old fuck you.
“They have you psychoanalyzing the kids, right? Helping to pick recruits and turn them into mindless soldiers.”
“I love you. There’s nothing you could say or do to make me change my mind.”
“I’m not sure I know what love is,” she whispers softly, making my heart ache for her. “I’ve never experienced it before. I don’t know what it feels like…but if there were ever someone I thought I could fall in love with, it would be you.”
“Because where I come from, family means something.”
“You want me to pin you beneath me and fuck your brains out, Little Warrior?”
“The reasons behind your actions are what matter. Yours came from a place of pain; mine were for survival.
You need to learn to accept everything that’s happened and move forward with your life. It doesn’t do you, or anyone else, any good to drown in it all.”
“I miss that. I miss you. I miss how your touch burns my skin and ignites a fire in my soul. I want to feel that again. I don’t want to go another day without you.”
“You are the sunlight on a dark day, the rainbow when it pours, the lighthouse in a storm. You’re my sunlight. My rainbow. My lighthouse.
“You’re perfect for me, Little Warrior. We were always meant to be together. You’re mine—not because you belong to me, but because you own every part of me.”
“I love you,” I pant, loving how his eyes soften and a boyish grin graces his lips. “I love you, baby. You're mine, and I'm yours. That’s the way it's always going to be.”
“You’re entitled to feel whatever you’re feeling,” I assure him. “It doesn’t matter what anyone else’s past is. That doesn’t negate what you have experienced or how you feel with all these new developments.
“You keep a knife in your boot?” Cam asks, sounding shocked and having picked up on what I would have classified as one of the least significant things I said, but whatever. “Yeah. Why, where do you keep yours?”
“If you’re marrying anyone, it will be one of us. You got that?”
He searches my eyes as I repeat the words he said to me in the library. “You’re mine, and I’m yours.” His eyes soften, and he plants another kiss on my lips. “I’m yours, and you're mine, baby. To the end.”
“All of me is yours,” I whisper, catching on to what he’s saying. He shakes his head no. “It’s all yours, Firefly. Your heart, your body, your mind, your soul…every part of you is yours to give away to whoever you choose, when you choose.” “I gave all of it to you,”
“All four of you. I’m all yours.” “And we’re yours,” they both echo.
“When you’re used to awful things happening to you, you learn to focus on the positives.”
