Jane takes a deep breath. These are old thoughts, out-of-date ones. She has proven him wrong: it may have taken her a while, but she has made friends, and she has begun to discover the Jane those friends see in her. And if he was wrong when he told her that she just didn’t gel with people, that she was odd, peculiar, that people would never get her the way he did—then maybe he was wrong about everything else, too.
