Sheriff Stevens winks at her so slightly I wonder if I’m only imagining it.
Such strange unrealistic behavior/dialog with sheriff throughout book. Pretty sure it is building up to a revaluation about him but instead of leading you to it, it is just reading as a poorly put together character.
I’m not sure where I’m going or what I’m doing, but I can’t stay here.
Desperate to be found innocent but escaping police custody? Doesn't make much sense logically. Also would be nearly impossible in a real police station.
Today is the day of Adam’s execution.
Hopped right to execution?? No more details about trial/reaction to verdict?
