Von Braun, making himself into an American, told the people in Alabama to pronounce his name “Brown.” And he was fully immersed. Signs of his influence are everywhere. He created a research center at the University of Alabama, and various institutions bear his name, such as the Von Braun Center and the Von Braun Astronomical Society.
