A King will always protect his Queen, and I may have failed this time, but this motherfucking God is vengeful.
She told me she loved me. I didn’t deserve that, not from her. I didn’t deserve that full stop. Loving me would damn her to hell. I would never let her go, she belonged to me, and now I know she has given me her heart, I’ll do anything to get her back, damned or not.
“I’ve missed you little bird and I’ve never missed anything in my entire life.”
“I am in love with you too,” I admit, “I never thought it possible, but I love you, little bird. All and every part of you.”
“I will always protect you,” I tell her, “You will always be first.” “Your city comes first,” she breathes, pressing a kiss to my palm. “Not anymore, little bird.” Her eyes open and she stares up at my face, checking for deceit in my words but she’ll find none. I never thought it possible. Weakened by a woman, brought to my knees by a single female who started out as a means to an end but became my queen instead. “I love you,” I whisper against her mouth.
“For the record, I meant what I said, I respect you and your family however,” he pauses, bending, “I respect your woman a hell of a lot more for what she has endured. Take care of her.”
