I love the word endure. That’s what life is all about. There are hard times. It’s a long race. Sometimes it can feel like a battle. For those of us not born with it, greatness is easy to give up on. There are countless excuses that keep people from going after an extraordinary life. But when we take on the challenge of pushing our limitations, we no longer see our limitations as barriers but as chances to work hard and buck the odds. In order to live a life marked by passion, tenacity, focus, and resilience, you have to simply keep hammering. Keep hammering isn’t some clever motto. It is a

you just need to get out the door and worry about today only. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Don’t worry about a week from now. You worry about today. Win the day. Do something positive. Worry about tomorrow tomorrow. To me, that is what enduring means. To get some positive direction going. To build up some momentum. What you’re barely doing day one, you’re doing easily on day twenty. That’s how it works. You have to get started and then you have to endure.
“The value in it is what you learn about yourself. In this sort of situation all kinds of qualities come out—things that you may not have seen in yourself before.”
Don’t ever prejudge who can and cannot make an impact in your life. Even the most unlikely of people can turn out to be instrumental in your journey. Maybe the villain in your story is actually just an antihero in disguise.
A good work ethic can only get you so far. I needed to want more out of my life.
Don’t make excuses. Give it your all. Show up when you’re supposed to show up. Speak your mind. Own up to your mistakes. Think with perspective. This is how you live a life worth remembering. That’s what I was starting to do.
That’s what everybody does. Everybody has an excuse. Everybody has a reason. You can always come up with a reason to not go after a challenge. So I’ve learned to never care what the excuse is. It’s never valid. That’s my attitude, and that’s my edge. It’s how I’ve built endurance and fostered resiliency. There are no rest days in my schedule. And that is the reason I excel.
“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.”
Are you willing to take a chance on yourself? Are you willing and able to be stupid like that?
success finds those that prepare the most, work the hardest, and are the strongest mentally.
Easy seldom makes memories.
“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.”
Earn your breaks. Hone your skills. Develop a talent. Eventually your dreams will become a reality.
“It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.” —Emiliano Zapata
Excuses are easy to come by. Pushing through is not.
Our bodies are capable of amazing things if we take off the shackles of doubt, toughen up, sacrifice, and dig deep. Our spirits are capable of the same. Dare to be defiant. Dare others to doubt your abilities. Damn the conventional wisdom from skeptics and experts and morons. It is better to die on your feet
Find inspiration somewhere. Find what works for you. Then give it all you have. “I’d rather be dead than average.”
“Outliers are those who have been given opportunities—and who have had the strength and presence of mind to seize them.” —Malcolm Gladwell
“Sometimes your motivation needs to be because no one else wants to fucking do it. We need doctors, we need lawyers, we need dentists, we need teachers. We also need fucking savages.” —David Goggins
Surround yourself with those who push you to be a better human.
Strive to find people you can model yourself after and you can see qualities and characteristics that you want to possess yourself. They show me firsthand that good is the enemy of great.
“How you do anything is how you do everything.”
There are no rest days. As irrational as it may seem, in my mind, I’m not good enough to take a day off. And I never will be.
“Professionals stick to the schedule; amateurs let life get in the way. Professionals know what is important to them and work toward it with purpose; amateurs get pulled off course by the urgencies of life … When a habit is truly important to you, you have to be willing to stick to it in any mood. Professionals take action even when the mood isn’t right. They might not enjoy it, but they find a way to put the reps in.”
I believe the only limits we have, both physically and mentally, are those in which we place on ourselves. Believe, and you will achieve.
“You can’t let praise or criticism get to you. It’s a weakness to get caught up in either one.”
If you have a burning passion for something that moves you, never be afraid to share it. When you do, you’re making a positive difference and inspiring others. The critics, no one will remember them.
“Learn to love the hate. Embrace it. Enjoy it. You earned it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone should have one about you. Haters are a good problem to have. Nobody hates the good ones. They hate the great ones.” —Kobe Bryant
The saying goes, the greater the sacrifice, the greater the reward. Always has been true. Always will be true.
I’m obsessed. Be obsessed or be average, I say. Sometimes it takes obsession to succeed at difficult tasks.
Our greatest successes are the most meaningful because of who we share them with. If someone is important to you and has helped you out along the way, tell them you appreciate them.
“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”
“You don’t need anyone’s permission to chase your dreams.”
