“My therapist says being consistent is the only way to deal with someone like him. That what you allow is what you teach.
I shook my head. “Nah. Grace costs you nothing,”
He was in the worst position to be generous, yet he was. And she was in the
best position to show grace, and she didn’t. And doing it would have cost her nothing. And that was the fundamental difference between them.
But all that glitters is not gold…
The remnants of small moments in her life that stayed with her forever. Proof of a thumbprint on her soul.
It’s amazing how someone can touch you, even if you only know them for a moment in time. How they can change you, alter you indelibly.
Love follows you. It goes where you go. It doesn’t know about social divides or distance or common sense. It doesn’t even stop when the person you love dies. It does what it wants. Even if what you want is to not be in love.
There’s something more final than forever. It’s never. Never is infinite.
It wouldn’t get better somewhere else. Because you carry love with you. And the realization that I couldn’t escape this was so devastating, so overwhelming, I couldn’t breathe.
