Empathy won’t stop poverty or solve the world’s problems. However, it can at least make us kindhearted people—more emotionally connected with and concerned about the suffering of others. Importantly, empathy can lead us further on our journey of helping those in need.
Being compassionate means being aware of the needs of others, wherever they live in the world, and taking action to respond to those needs. This is compassion, rooted in love.
